Tips for making your living space clean with little effort

We've all been there, you want to invite some friends over but your entire place is just.... gross.

Clean laundry scattered around the floor, dirty laundry lying next to it, dishes everywhere, etc.

You should clean, but you just can't seem to put yourself to it.

I know exactly how you feel, so here are some tips which help me whenever I'm in a slump, and I hope they help you too.

Laundry

Laundry is always one of the big pickles for me, mostly because I have to walk two floors, go outside, open a very heavy door while balancing a laundry basket, open another door and then hope there is a laundry machine left.

Truly a fun experience. However, once the laundry is in, I don't have that many troubles. But then once it is finished it goes in the dryer and then I have to pick it up and the whole ordeal starts again.

Don't even get me started on ironing!

Alright, enough ranting and start with the solution time!

Step 1. Just put it in

Jup, this is the easiest part. Because let me tell you something, as long as it's not a brand new delicate piece of clothing, you don't need to separate it.

I only separate my soft clothing (I want to add fabric softener to that because I like it soft), my unhygienic clothing (underwear, bedsheets towels, etc), and the rest.

so in total, I only need to wash three times, which isn’t a lot. Normally I don’t do my soft clothing, as it’s only winter wear.

Putting them into the dryer is also not the most work, except that you now have to go back and move one thing to the other.

But for me, the real pickle is once everything is ready. I just put the clothes in my room…. and leave them there for multiple days.

I have a closet with a hanger, meaning that I have to individually hang each clothing item, which is usually too much effort for me until I start to get annoyed with all the clothes on my floor.

So my advice to you is, hang them on a hanger, immediately after they are out of the dryer. You are still feeling efficient while you are there, and the only thing left to do is hang them in your closet, which feels like way less effort.

If you only fold them, then fold them there! However, if you do so then you won't be able to do the next tip!

No ironing

Ironing sucks and takes a long time, and in my opinion, it's completely pointless! My clothes will crease anyway after wearing them for 20 minutes.

But sometimes the creases are a bit too bad, or you want to look good at your job.

Then a tip is, instead of hanging them immediately in your closet, spray your clothes with water first.

It is best to then just use your hand to remove the creases and then hang them up and you get a perfectly smooth shirt or jeans.

This way almost all of the creases disappear, and it looks almost as good as ironing!

I would say if you have an important job interview, you should properly iron it. But this method is a good solution for your everyday wear.

Changing the sheets

Having a two-person bed can be a lot of fun until you have to change the sheet. It is tiresome, annoying, and just a complete workout.

BUT, there is a way that completed changed my way of changing the sheets. I call it,

the sushi roll

You place your naked blanket on your bed and put your inside-out sheet on top of it. Then you roll the blanket with the sheet inside of it until you reach the end of the bed, creating the sushi roll.

You put the corners of your bedsheet around the sides of your sushi roll and then you roll the blanket out.

And that's it!

You can give it a last shake if you want for the ending, but you will get a perfectly made bed with almost no effort.

You can find the video explaining it here. It was honestly a life changer for me.

Cleaning

I don't like to clean if you didn't already figure that out from this post. But sadly it is a necessity, and I do like the smell of a clean house.

However, I don't like that everything gets wet and not cleaned right, and dust will always remain. Only recently have I found the perfect solution.

Disposable wipes.

Now, I know what you are thinking, 'but those are so bad for the environment'.

And I agree, however, I recently found disposable wipes, which are biodegradable! (not sponsored)

They smell amazing, and they clean also really well, including dust! I clean everything with them, from my kitchen; to the table; to my bathroom; simply everything!

And I highly recommend them to anyone who has any issues with cleaning themselves.

Now last, but sadly not the least:

Dishes

Some people like doing the dishes, although I've never met any of those people personally.

The most basic one is getting a dishwasher. Nowadays, you even have dishwashers you no longer need to connect to the pipes! Which is perfect if you live in a small studio apartment.

I recommend the Bomann dishwasher (sadly, still not sponsored).

It was originally designed to be placed inside of the camper, but it also works fine for small houses! And as said, you put the water in the top and the dirty water flows out of the pipes.

I have connected the hose to my toilet so that I don't have to do anything with it.

If this is still not an option for you, then try using gloves. It helps with keeping your hands dry and, as a bonus, you don't have to touch the gooey food.

The best time to do your dishes is still right after you finished eating, or during your cooking. So try to keep that up!

Alright, these were my tips! I hope one or more can help you to make your home a bit more clean, without much effort.
